Davis Islands
Developer D.P. Davis created Davis Islands in the 1920s from two small natural islands, Little Grassy Key and Big Grassy Key, at the mouth of the Hillsborough River, building them up with mud dredged from Tampa Bay. Today the Islands mix homes, shops and parks with Peter O. Knight Airport, Tampa General Hospital and the Davis Islands Yacht Club. Marjorie Park is named for Davis's wife, Marjorie Merritt Davis.
